Ballpoint pens are a classic gift in the promotional range of companies, both for internal and external use. An engraving boosts the ball pen's impact as a promotional item. Usually, the decorative elements are laser-engraved on metal ball pens. But other materials such as wood or plastic can be engraved as well. Engraved ballpoint pens are always a good choice thanks to the durability of the engraving which can be done on a budget. Engraved metal ball pens in particular have a very sophisticated look and feel. So take your time when choosing your ball pens – your customers will notice it later on.
Durable and stylish: the benefits of laser engraving
Unlike printing, engraved elements create a tactile feel. The material, e.g. wood or metal, is heated to high temperatures using a laser. Depending on the intensity, a laser will burn your logo either on or into the material. This creates a special surface feel and makes the engraving durable, scratch-resistant and wipeable. The engraving process may cause colour changes depending on the material texture. But unlike printing, this technology does not apply colour to the surface of the substrate. If you want to add your company colours, you have to select the colour of the pen, clip or cap accordingly.
Which pens are best suited for engraving?
If you want to engrave ball pens as promotional giveaways, you will probably order them in bulk. Therefore, it is a good idea to keep your engraving general and use your company name and logo instead of personalized information. Or you can engrave short messages such as "Thank you!" or "Always there for you". But keep in mind the limited space on the pen. The design is usually engraved on the barrel below the clip in a size of up to four centimetres. Therefore, your logo or brand name is the best choice for the design.

Other materials are just as well suited to add a laser engraving. The difference to these products is usually the price and the available quantities. The 'Ipanema' pen is made of wood with a metal clip and cap. It is delivered individually packed in a small wooden box. The 'Concepción' pen is also made of natural material. It is equally well suited to be engraved. But bear in mind that there can be slight variations, e.g. in colour, in the engraving result when using these materials. Our plastic pen models 'Brescia' and 'Yokohama' are also eligible for laser engraving which is placed below the clip.

Our writing sets are a good choice if you want to present your engraved promotional pens in a gift package.
